Why Men’s Procedures are on the Rise

Nowadays, more men than ever are opting for cosmetic procedures. But why now? Plastic surgery has been around for ages, and millions of women around the world benefit from it every year. This sudden increase for men seems to be due, in part, to the recent creation of quick and easy treatments that require little to no downtime. Men want to look and feel their best too, without extended time off from work.

Cultural Shifts

There is also the added element of changes in culture. Today, men are no longer expected to be rugged; it is now accepted for a man to have smoother skin and a younger-looking appearance. Many men wish to look their best in the challenging job market of today. Dating is also a big factor; men are getting married later in life and want to look their best when dating.

ASPS Stats

The latest stats from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) show that male plastic surgery has increased 28% since 2000, and this number is only expected to grow. The five most common cosmetic procedures for men in 2016 were eyelid surgery, male breast reduction, liposuction, and facelift. However, many men are also opting for noninvasive procedures such as Botox, dermal fillers, Kybella, and CoolSculpting. Nonsurgical procedures are often done quickly with no downtime, so men can return to the office right after treatment.
