Neck Lift – Lower Rhytidectomy
A sagging or fleshy neck is one of the prominent signs of aging that often becomes noticeable even when your face still looks youthful. It is common to neglect the neck, focusing your skin care ritual on your face, and allowing your neck to age faster. Weight changes can be very visible in the neck, causing premature aging. A neck lift can rejuvenate your neck and is less invasive than a facelift.
Neck Lift Benefits
Loose skin, lax muscles, and fatty deposits under the chin and jawline can create a jowly appearance or “turkey neck.” Definition of the chin and jawline are obscured. Benefits of a neck lift include:
- Removing fat deposits under the chin
- Removing excess skin
- Tightening lax neck muscles
- Creating a defined jawline
- Correcting “turkey neck”
- Correcting jowls
- Less invasive than a facelift
Neck Lift Procedure
During the neck lift procedure, we use liposuction to remove pockets of fat in the neck, jowls, and under the chin creating a more defined jawline. The platysma muscle is tightened, restoring the angle between your neck and chin. The result is a more toned and youthful looking neck and jawline that sets off rather than detracting from your face.

Neck Lift Candidates
Double chin, turkey neck, and banding can be the result of genetics, no matter what your weight or age. When this is the case, no amount of exercise or skin care will correct the appearance of your neck. A neck lift can give you’re the elegant profile you have always wanted.
A neck lift is often the ideal procedure if you are a younger patient who has lost weight, creating looseness and sagging in the neck, but you are not yet in need of facial procedures.
You may choose to have a neck lift alone or in combination with other facial plastic surgery procedures. A facelift addresses the neck but is not as targeted as the neck lift. Some patients need improvement in their necks but do not actually need a full facelift. For instance, you may find that a neck lift combined with a brow lift or blepharoplasty creates the targeted combination which more specifically addresses your problem areas, and delivers the look you desire.
