Facelift (Neck lift)

A Facelift, also known as a Neck Lift, is a surgical procedure to create a younger look in the face

Over time our skin loses its elasticity and the effects of sun damage, environmental pollutants, and stress on the face show up in the form of wrinkles, sagging skin, deep folds, and fat deposits.

A facelift procedure can turn back the clock on your appearance by as much as 10 or 15 years, effectively reversing the appearance of the aging process.

Am I a Good Candidate
for Facelift Surgery?

A facelift is highly effective at reducing or eliminating the appearance of the signs of aging throughout the face and around the jawline. A well-qualified patient for facelift surgery in Scottsdale will have fine lines and wrinkles, deep folds, and an overall sagging appearance.

A good candidate for this procedure is also able to withstand general anesthesia used during surgery, be a non-smoker, and have realistic expectations about what a facelift procedure can accomplish.

Complimentary Facelifts

Open Brow Lift

An Open Brow Lift  involves an incision across the hairline to improve and lift the brow area. Occasionally, our surgeons do perform an endoscopic brow lift, but generally advise against it can have a less long-lasting effect.

• Drooping brow
• Frown lines between the brows (11 lines)
• Skin laxity in the forehead
• Deep forehead wrinkles

Fat Grafting (Fat Transfer)

Transfer of fat to the face is a natural solution to achieve a more youthful look and enhance the results of facial plastic surgery procedures.

Using the patient’s own fat cells, a fat graft, or fat transfer can be used as an alternative to implants or facial fillers. By using your own natural fat cells, a subtle enhancement is achieved for long-lasting, natural results.

Endoscopic Mid-Facelift

The endoscopic facelift, also referred to as a cheek lift, is minimally invasive and virtually scarless. This method uses tiny incisions hidden in the hairline and a miniature camera to lift the cheek area. A mid facelift can correct:

• Sagging mid-face
• Sagging cheeks
• Cheek folds
• Lines around the mouth
• Jowls
• Hallowing in the lower eyelids
• Deep nasolabial folds (smile lines)

Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Lift)

The endoscopic facelift is minimally invasive and virtually scar-less. This method uses tiny incisions and a miniature camera in lifting the cheeks and upper face. The endoscopic facelift can correct:

• Sagging brow
• Frown lines
• Sagging mid-face
• Sagging cheeks
• Cheek folds
• Lines around the mouth
• Jowls

Choosing Your Procedures

During your initial consultation, one of our surgeons will evaluate the condition of your skin and your overall health.

Facial cosmetic procedures can be performed alone or in combination with other procedures. After listening to your goals and concerns, they will recommend the facial rejuvenation options that will best achieve the results you desire.

Our surgeons believe it’s important for patients to be well-educated about the risks associated with any cosmetic surgery, including facelift.

Recovery & Results From Facelift Surgery

After your facelift procedure, you will be sent home with bandages around your incision sites to help reduce swelling and minimize bleeding. Your surgeon will give you specific instructions for what you can and cannot do immediately after surgery and in the weeks to come.

The recovery process varies from patient to patient based on the extent of the procedure and your ability to heal. In general, you will need to avoid strenuous activity for about four weeks, although many patients begin to feel like themselves a few days after their procedure.

Investing in maintenance treatments (medical grade skin care, regular facials, fillers, neurotoxins and the occasional non-surgical tightening all offered through our MD Skin Centers) can greatly extend the results of cosmetic procedures. At Gawley Plastic Surgery, we provide you with a full pre and post-surgery skincare plan to help you achieve your best results

At the end of the day, the natural results of a facelift procedure speak for themselves. You can see what our surgeons have achieved for other facelift patients by browsing our before-and-after gallery to get an idea of what this procedure could mean for you.

Facelift FAQs

For mild loose skin, there are skin care products and non-surgical treatments like Moprheus8 at our practice or Scarlet ® and lasers that we offer through our MD Skin Centers. However, for more significant skin laxity associated with normal aging or substantial weight loss, a facelift is often your best option.

The two main reasons for double chin are extra fat and extra skin. If there is a subtle double chin, non-surgical treatments that we offer through MD Skin like CoolScuplting ® and Ultherapy ® may be an option. In younger patients, liposuction may be an excellent treatment as the skin has enough elasticity to tighten up. As you get less young however, a neck lift is often the best choice to both remove excess fat and tighten the skin.

You will look better for the rest of your life: actual twin studies have shown this to be the case. However, gravity and normal aging don’t stop after a facelift. On average, patients develop enough laxity that they start to think about further surgery in 7-10 years. Investing in maintenance treatments (medical grade skin care, regular facials, Botox ® and the occasional non-surgical tightening all offered through our MD Skin Centers) can greatly extend your result.

Fat transfer is permanent. When it is first injected into the face, there is some swelling with the procedure, so what you see in the first days after surgery is not all fat. And not all of the fat transferred will survive. On average, about 70% lives. We don’t over correct as occasionally all of the fat survives and then you would be “overdone.” You can expect to see the final result by 2-3 months and then the fat remains forever thereafter.

It is important to individualize any facial treatment and the jawline is no exception. For some, botoxing the masseter (the chewing muscle) will reduce bulk and smooth the jawline. For others, adding fat or fillers may be enough to strengthen the jawline and improve the appearance. And then for those with a little more looseness, a facelift may be the ideal treatment.
