Ultherapy® versus the Surgical Facelift – The Ideal Choice

Ultherapy® versus the Surgical Facelift – The Ideal Choice

The thought of undergoing facial rejuvenation is both exciting and scary at the same time. It’s exciting to think about regaining the youthful look that you remember. The scary part is how do you make the right choice? Your first step is choosing your provider. Gawley Plastic Surgery surgeons are a Board Certified Plastic Surgeons. As a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, you are assured of quality training and can be confident that you are receiving quality care.

We all age differently. During your initial facial rejuvenation consultation in Scottsdale, Arizona, you will be informed of all options to improve the appearance of your facial skin and contours and your neck skin and jawline contours. Your lifestyle, current appearance, and your desired results are all factors that play critical roles in choosing between various surgical methods and non-invasive treatments such as an Ultherapy® treatment.

The Basics of Surgical Facelifts

A facelift is a surgical procedure that addresses the lower two-thirds of the face and neck, removing excess skin and fat, and tightening the muscles. At Gawley Plastic Surgery, utilizing facial fat grafting and endoscopic techniques, a smoother, firmer, more youthful appearance can be achieved. Traditional facelift and mini-lift techniques are also available. With any chosen method, patients can expect a natural-looking, younger, and smoother appearance.

Ideal Candidates for Surgical Facelifts

A one-on-one consultation with one of our surgeons is the best way to determine your candidacy. However, if you are unhappy with the way aging has impacted your face, no matter your age, you may be an excellent candidate for facelift surgery. With Gawley Plastic Surgery’s modern techniques, our surgeons can address subtle to advanced signs of aging that have long lasting results.

The Basics of Ultherapy®

Ultherapy® is the first and only FDA-approved treatment that specifically targets sagging skin without damaging the skin or the need for incisions. Utherapy® utilizes ultrasound waves to address the underlying tissues responsible for healthy collagen production, stimulating the growth for only natural results.

Over the course of six months, your skin produces more collagen, which lifts, tones and eliminates your aging concerns, including sagging skin in the brow area and neck, and the appearance of jowling. Most patients only require one non-surgical treatment of Ultherapy® to achieve their results.

Ideal Candidates for Ultherapy®

The best way to find out if you are a good candidate for Ultherapy® is an initial consultation with one of our cosmetic surgeons. Generally, ideal candidates for Ultherapy® treatment are patients with mild-to-moderate skin laxity, where the skin begins to feel and look less firm. Some cosmetic concerns that can be addressed include a lowered eyebrow line, loose skin on the face or neck, and sagging under the chin.

Ultherapy® vs. Facelift – The Verdict

Whether a patient chooses Ultherapy® or a facelift procedure to correct their facial aesthetic concerns is completely an individual choice. Although Ultherapy® treats the deep layers of the skin, it is unable to produce duplicate results of a facelift. However, Ultherapy® may be an excellent alternative, especially for those not ready for surgery or are just beginning to show signs of aging. Facelift surgery may be desired if the patient has more dramatic cosmetic concerns that can only be corrected with surgery. Furthermore, the results of a facelift are shown to be longer lasting than the results of Ultherapy®.

Although both procedures have their pros and cons, the two are used to reach a high satisfaction rate among patients with their remarkable, natural-looking, and younger results! In all cases of surgical consideration, you should always consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon, so you are informed every step of the way.
