It’s important to understand that breast reduction is about you. If the procedure isn’t appropriate for your unique needs, we will not recommend it. Our team will discuss your options with care and compassion.
There are a number of factors that go into deciding whether or not you are an ideal breast reduction candidate, but they go into two broad categories: conditions that can be effectively treated by a breast reduction and the physical and mental traits of the patient.
Help us help you!
We want you to get the most out of your consultation. If at all possible, it is best to make arrangements for small children to stay home rather than having them join us for your appointments.
Conditions Treated By a Breast Reduction
At your consultation, you’ll have an opportunity to ask your breast reduction questions and discuss the issues you wish to have our breast surgeon address. During this consultation, we will make sure that a breast reduction can meet your goals.
Breast reduction surgery is designed to address:
- Breasts that are too large for your frame
- Heavy, pendulous breasts that you find uncomfortable or less than ideal aesthetically
- One breast being larger than the other
- Back, neck, and shoulder pain caused by overly large breasts
For examples of some of our breast surgeon’s past work in the breast reduction field, you can visit our before and after gallery. These photos will give you a sense of the kind of conditions a breast reduction usually treats.
While breast reduction is a commonly performed procedure with an excellent safety record, it is not for everyone. Even if you’re experiencing one of the conditions listed above you might not be a good candidate for the procedure.
Ideal breast reduction candidates:
- Have reached physical maturity; breast development has stopped
- Are finished having children
- Are finished breastfeeding
- Are in good overall health
- Have reasonable expectations for the procedure
We will make sure the breast reduction procedure is right for you. If it is, you can rest assured that we will proceed with your safety and cosmetic objectives in mind at all times.
