No two women have the same shape and size breasts. Due to this, breast ptosis (sagging) will be different for every woman. The team at Gawley Plastic Surgery customizes breast lift options to meet the particular needs of each individual. Based on factors such as your level of ptosis and the size of your breasts, we will carefully select the breast lift incision option best suited to produce the perky and youthful look you deserve.

Breast Lift Incisions

There are four primary breast lift incision options:

  • Crescent – for subtle breast ptosis, the crescent lift is often best. With this technique, we will remove only a small, crescent-shaped piece of tissue from above your areola
  • Concentric – also known as a donut lift, this option is ideal for minor amounts of ptosis. The concentric incision is made around the entire areola, allowing for slightly more lift than the crescent technique
  • Lollipop – if you have a medium amount of ptosis, the lollipop lift may be best. With this technique, we will make a concentric incision with an additional incision running vertically to your breast crease
  • Standard – also known as an anchor incision, this option is the best for women who have more pronounced ptosis. An anchor incision is the same as the lollipop with an additional incision running horizontally in the breast crease

The type of incision you require will be dependent on your level of ptosis, but other factors such as any necessary areola reduction or the addition of breast enhancement with implants will play a role as well. For example, if you are choosing to combine a lift with breast augmentation, a concentric, lollipop, or standard lift will be best. These incision options allow us more access to underlying tissues, making them better suited for the placement of breast implants.
During your initial consultation, we will be happy to answer your breast lift questions, assess your frame, and help you determine which incision option will best serve your needs.
