We want you to get the most out of your consultation. If at all possible, it is best to make arrangements for small children to stay home rather than having them join us for your appointments.

Gawley Plastic Surgery takes pride in customizing each breast augmentation procedure to meet the specific needs and desires of each patient. To accomplish this, breast implant options such as shape, profile, and size will all need to be taken into careful consideration.
If you are considering breast implants and have set your mind on a certain cup size, you are not alone. However, cup size varies by manufacturer and style, making it an unreliable method for planning breast implant size. Instead, it is best to use visualization techniques both at home and at our office to give yourself a better idea of what results you can achieve.

The Rice Test

One of the easiest ways to visualize the best breast implant size for you is with the rice test. To perform this test, simply take two nylon hose, fill them with rice, and place them underneath your bra. Begin with 1/8 cup (33cc) and gradually increase the size until you find the most appealing results. Record the size you like best and bring your findings to your initial consultation.
As a reference:

  • 1/8 cup = 30cc
  • 1/4 cup = 59cc
  • 1/3 cup = 78cc
  • 1/2 cup = 118cc
  • 2/3 cup = 156cc
  • 3/4 cup = 177cc
  • 1 cup = 236cc

The Consultation

During your initial consultation, we will listen to your desires, assess your frame, consider your at-home visualization results, and determine what breast implant options will best meet your needs.

If you live in or around Phoenix, Scottsdale, Gilbert, Chandler, or Glendale, Arizona and are interested in learning more about your breast augmentation options, please contact Gawley Plastic Surgery today to schedule an initial consultation.
