When planning your breast augmentation one of the many choices you will be considering are your breast implant options. Our team at Gawley Plastic Surgery will guide you through this process based on your personal goals and your body type.
Silicone or Saline Implants
For many years saline-filled implants were the only choice available to most women. Silicone filled implants are once again available for women 22 years old and older. Most patients and doctors prefer silicone because it looks and feels more like your natural breast tissue.
All breast implants have a silicone shell. Silicone filled implants are filled with a thick silicone gel. Saline filled implants are filled with salt water. Saline filled implants are available for patients 18 years old and older.

We want you to get the most out of your consultation. If at all possible, it is best to make arrangements for small children to stay home rather than having them join us for your appointments.
Profile of breast implants refers to projection from the chest. A low profile implant will provide more fullness, while a high profile implant provides more projection out from the body. Profile choice is largely dependent on your body frame. If you have a narrow frame, you will want to choose a higher profile implant to avoid breasts that are too wide for your body.
Implants may be round or tear-drop shaped. Round implants create a more natural looking breast shape in most patients, but if you have little or no existing breast tissue a tear-drop shaped implant may work better for you.
Breast Implant Surface
You may choose a smooth or textured surface. In most cases, a smooth surface produces the best results, but patients with a history of capsular contracture may prefer textured implants.
Of course, there is always the question of size. Size is a very personal decision, and ultimately, it is entirely up to you. A drastic increase in size will result in a longer, more painful recovery. The size of the implant itself does not correlate to cup size. Many factors will determine the breast size achieved. We will help you determine the implant size you need to gain the breast size you desire.
During your initial consultation, we will explain your breast implant options and make recommendations based on your goals and body type. If you are considering breast enlargement in the Scottsdale and Phoenix, Arizona area, please contact us today so we can schedule your consultation appointment.
