WHAT IS A RHINOPLASTY?
The nose is located in the center of the face and is often the first thing people see when meeting you. The nose also creates overall facial symmetry, which is why a proportionate nose is key to a balanced appearance. A rhinoplasty can correct nasal asymmetry, large, wide, or upturned nostrils, a large, drooping, or hooked nasal tip, humps or depressions on the bridge, or a too-large or too-small nose.Watch Dr. Gawley Videos - Click Here
WHO IS A GOOD CANDIDATE?
People who are unhappy with the size or shape of their nose or those who wish to correct bumps or depressions in their nasal bridge may be able to benefit from a rhinoplasty. This facial enhancement procedure can also correct a deviated septum, which can cause trouble with breathing. A consultation with Dr. Gawley is needed to determine if this procedure can benefit you.
Rhinoplasty can be done using the open technique or the closed technique. During the open technique, incisions are created on the outside of the nose on the columella, or the strip of tissue between the nostrils. Although an incision is made on the outside of the nose, it is barely visible when healed. During the closed technique, all incisions are created inside of the nose. Regardless of the technique, Dr. Gawley will reshape the structures of the nose to create the desired outcome.
The rhinoplasty procedure is done on an outpatient basis, so you expect to return home after surgery. Bruising and swelling will occur, which can be diminished with cold packs. Patients should avoid blowing their nose for about two weeks, and sun exposure should be avoided for at least two months. Many people are able to return to everyday activities after three weeks, though it may take up to a year for final results to be visible.
Rhinoplasty can be a life-changing procedure and is able to boost patients’ confidence. If you are interested in rhinoplasty in the Scottsdale area, contact our office today to schedule a consultation with Dr. Gawley. For more information, visit our blog page.
