WHAT IS A FACELIFT?
As we age, our skin begins to lose collagen and elastin, causing sagging skin, wrinkles and lines, and fat to fall in our face. Many men feel that these signs of aging do not reflect their age, or how they feel inside. A facelift is a facial enhancement procedure that can help to restore a more youthful facial appearance for a boost in confidence.Watch Dr. Gawley Videos - Click Here
WHO IS A GOOD CANDIDATE?
If you are experiencing facial sagging and excess skin that is a social or career obstacle, feel that your facial aging makes you appear tired or angry, or have a loss of muscle tone in the lower face, resulting in jowls, you may be able to benefit from a facelift. Ideal candidates will be healthy, nonsmokers. However, the best way to determine if this procedure is right for you is through a consultation with Dr. Gawley.
At our practice, we offer two facelift techniques: the traditional facelift and the endoscopic facelift. The traditional facelift address the lower two-thirds of the face and neck. Excess skin and fat are removed from the face, and muscles are tightened for a smoother facial contour. An endoscopic facelift is less invasive than a traditional facelift and produces minimal scarring. During this technique, small incisions and a miniature camera will be used to lift the cheeks and upper face. The type of facelift used in your case will depend on your individual anatomy and your desired outcomes.
Following a facelift, compression garments will need to be worn to support the treated area and minimize swelling. Discomfort should begin to decrease after 48 hours, though pain medication can help with comfort. Bruising and swelling will occur, and patients should sleep with their head elevated for a few weeks to help with swelling. Patients should avoid strenuous activity and heavy lifting for 2-6 weeks after surgery.
