PRP Hair Restoration
Hair loss can occur in both men and women. In fact, the American Hair Loss Association reports that two-thirds of men will begin to see thinning of hair by the age of 35, with 85 percent of men seeing a significant amount of thinning by the age of 50. Hair loss can also occur in women, with about 40 percent of hair loss sufferers being female. MD Skin Lounge is excited to offer a natural, non-surgical treatment to help restore hair growth in both men and women. PRP, or platelet rich plasma therapy is a breakthrough treatment to help those who are suffering from unwanted hair loss, with little to no downtime.
How PRP Hair Restoration Works
PRP therapy uses the patient’s own blood, which contains white and red blood cells, plasma, and platelets to restore hair growth. The platelets can cause hair follicle growth by stimulating stem cells. Platelets can also promote healing, regeneration and formation of new cellular growth. PRP causes inactive hair follicles to enter into an active growth phase.
The PRP Hair Restoration Procedure
The PRP hair restoration procedure begins with a blood draw in our office. The blood is then spun in a centrifuge and the PRP is separated and detached from the blood. The stimulating PRP is then injected into the area(s) of hair loss. This regenerates the growth of hair follicles. Your hair can be washed after the treatment, and there is no downtime required. No sedation is necessary during this procedure.
Results of PRP Hair Restoration
Most patients require multiple treatments to see optimal results, though some may only receive this procedure once a year. Results will vary, but in general, patients should expect to see a gradual increase in natural hair growth over the course of several months.
